Melvin Lyons, age 82, a lifelong resident of Bethlehem, passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. He was the son of the late Ruby Lyons and Emma Hawkins Lyons. He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister. He was an Army veteran, retired farmer, former owner of Kentuckiana Tobacco Warehouse in Carrollton and a director of CUB Bank, Owenton.
He is survived by his wife Dana; his children, Brent Lyons (Robin) of Bethlehem and Marcia Lyons Jackson (Jim) of Lexington; two grandchildren, Edenah Makensie Jackson and Conor Marsh Lyons; a sister, Mary Alice Lyons Heaton (Elton); step-sons, Jamie Bowling, Okla., and Dakotah Bowling (Jessica) of Evansville, Ind.; two step-grandchildren, Julian and Kaden; many loved nieces, nephews and family members; and two honorary sons, George Armstrong and Steven Stark.
Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Daybreak Baptist Church, 4323 North Main St., Eminence. Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Daybreak Baptist Church. Interment is in Pleasureville Cemetery.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Jerry Stark Memorial scholarship Fund at Carrollton Federal Bank.
