Nellie Gayle Wheeler Bright, age 95 of Eminence, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Defoe and was the daughter of the late Lindon and Mary Clements Wheeler. She was a homemaker and caregiver, and belonged to Defoe Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Dixie Moore of Eminence and Karen Bright of Defoe; one brother: Orem Wheeler of Georgia; three daughters-in law: Mary Ann Bright of Eminence, Rita Bright of Eminence, and Christine Bright of Defoe; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elbert Bright Sr.; four sons: E.J., Lynn, Tommy, and Neil Bright; two brothers: Milton and Frank Wheeler; and two sisters: Frances Waddell and Bessie O'Nan.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville with the Rev. Jerry Anderson, pastor of Pleasureville Baptist Church, and the Rev. Doug Alexander, pastor of Defoe Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Defoe Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charlie Barnett, Marty Bright, Randy Bright, Shawn Bright, Clay Couch, Les Lyle, Chuck LeCompte and Rick Peterson.
