Betty Jane LeCompte Douglas, age 79 of Franklinton, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. She was born in Shelbyville and was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Bertha Kyle LeCompte . She was a homemaker and member of Franklinton Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Steven Douglas (Thelma) Eminence ; Phillip Douglas (Cindy), Franklinton; two daughters: Kathleen Erwin (Bobby), Franklinton; Lynette Yount (John David), Eminence; two brothers: Eugene LeCompte (Evelyn) and Jerry LeCompte(Christine), all of Eminence; one sister, Helen Locklear, Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren: Kylen Douglas (Beth), Micah Douglas, Erin Samuels (Steve), Brett Foree, Kaitlyn Foree, Phillip Robert Douglas, Michael Douglas, Jacob Yount, Justin Yount and Jared Yount; two great-grandsons: Kaine Samuels and Benjamin Douglas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gayle Douglas, three sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Franklinton Baptist Church. The Rev. Jacky Newton, pastor of Franklinton Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in Franklinton Cemetery. Her grandchildren served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
