Donald Ray Spear, age 81 of Eminence, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. He was born in Bethlehem and was the son of John Paul Spear Sr., and Fannie B. Shannon Spear. He farmed for much of his life and retired from American Standard after 30+ years, was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean War, was a member of the Local Order of Moose Lodge Shelbyville No. 1715 and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Beverly Spear, Eminence; three daughters: Terri Spear Vaughn (Dennis), New Castle; Patty Spear Luttrell (Dan), Frankfort; and Tish Spear Berry (Ed), Eminence; two brothers: John Spear Jr., Louisville; and Gerald Spear, Lawrenceburg; two sisters: Betty Moody(John) and Joyce Spear, both of Eminence; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Spear.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. The Rev. Dan Luttrell and the Rev. Ed Berry officiated. Interment was in Pleasureville Cemetery.
