EVANS, ODELLA MADELINE FRALEY - Proctorville
On Thursday afternoon, December 18, 2014, our precious mama was carried to Heaven by the angels, where she saw her Savior face to face and was reunited with our sweet Daddy, who most likely stood at the gates of Heaven welcoming her and saying, "Here comes my beautiful wife." ODELLA MADELINE FRALEY EVANS, 91, of Huntington, was born in Elliott County, Ky., on July 31, 1923, the eighth child of Cecil and Carrie Nickell Fraley, who preceded her in death. She was married to Milton Evans on June 3, 1942, and they were married almost 64 years until his death on February 23, 2006. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Silas and Edwin Fraley, and five sisters, Leah Hivon, Vera Barrett, Irene Gilliam, Clara Stout and Wilma Cole. Odella graduated from Sandy Hook, Ky., High School in 1942. She was an accomplished seamstress all of her life, making beautiful clothes for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other people. In the last few years, she particularly enjoyed making "bonnet aprons" and giving them as gifts to people she loved. She has given away hundreds of aprons in the last few years. She retired from Huntington Industries (the dress factory) in Huntington in 1983 and enjoyed her retirement and traveling with Milton for many years until his illness prevented it. They were ardent fans of both Marshall University football and basketball, held season tickets for many years, and enjoyed traveling to many away games as well. Even when she could no longer attend the games, she still loved The Herd, and would proudly stand in her living room at home and do the thunderclap every time they scored as she watched the games on TV! She was a devoted and loving wife to Milton and cared tirelessly for him as his health declined the last ten years of his life. She was a faithful member of River Cities Community Church, where she was dearly loved by her church family. She was the sweetest mama in the world to her children, Phillip (and Mary) Evans of Tippecanoe, Ohio, Patricia (and Ralph) Rood, Brenda (and Rusty) Irby, and Bonnie Jo (and Mick) Jefferson, all of Huntington. She loved her nine grandchildren, and they adored her, Jeff Evans of Canton, Ohio, Mary Jo (and John) Ralston of Tippecanoe, Ohio, Christopher (and Amanda) Rood of Elsmere, Ky., Amy (and Kevin) Stowasser, Rebecca Brammer, Matthew (and Danielle) Irby, Melissa (and Brad) Curry, Jonathan (and Heather) Jefferson, and Jordan (and Rachel) Jefferson, all of Huntington. She had many hours of pleasure (and exhaustion) enjoying her 14 great-grandchildren, Miranda Evans, Erin and Rachel Ralston, Nathaniel Rood, Brianna Stowasser, Hope, Zac and Abby Brammer, A.J., Titus and Jeremiah Irby, Emily McCormick and Trevor and Tanner Curry. She was the heart of our loving, extended family and there's a void in our lives that will never be filled. Although we are broken-hearted, "we grieve not as others who have no hope…" I Thessalonians 4:13. We believe that if you know where something is, you didn't lose it, and we KNOW that our mother is in Heaven because she trusted Christ as her Savior, and we KNOW we will see her again because of the finished work of Christ on the cross. So, we didn't lose her. This is just a brief interlude until we meet again. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, and her home-going celebration will be conducted by Pastor Larry Greene at noon Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideon's International to purchase Bibles or to Hospice of Huntington.
