RAYMOND ROGER LINDQUIST, 80, of Huntington, passed away on July 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 30, 2014 in West Enfield, Maine; one of twenty children born to Marinus and Flora Playze Lindquist. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife of 40 years, Dauretta Faye Lindquist, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for this wonderful man will be conducted at the
First Baptist Church of Ceredo on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with burial to follow at
White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. Mr. Lindquist honorably served his country during his career in the U.S.
Army. He enlisted in April 1951 and retired in April 1972. During his Army career, he served in
World War II, the
Korean War and the
Vietnam War. He was honored by the Secretary of the Army and was appointed Honorary Sargent Major of the 38th Infantry Regiment, aka "The Black Lions." He retired with multiple medals and awards, which included the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and several Presidential Army Commendation Medals. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ceredo where he taught Sunday School. After church services were over, he would go for many years to the Ceredo Manor and have church with the residents there. He loved his church family and would do anything he could for anyone up until his very last days. His main goal in life was to serve the Lord and make Heaven his home. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
