Barbara Gandy Obituary

DECATUR - Barbara J. "Bobbie" Gandy, 82, of Decatur, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born February 5, 1929 in Decatur the daughter of George H. and Florence M. (Fitzgerald) Bastob. Barbara worked as an underwriter for Nicholson & Clark for 20 plus years. She loved to read and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 105 Auxiliary. Barbara married Donald W. Gandy in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Marcia; brother, George and sister, Suzanne. Surviving is her son, Jay Gandy (Gina Waters) of Macon; sisters: Florence M. Jenson and Sarah Barr of Decatur and Linda Hutson of Las Vegas, NV; brother, John (Marilyn) Bastob of Kansas City, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral liturgy celebrating her life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Rev. Richard Weltin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home followed by burial in Macon County Memorial Park concluding with the "Flight Home Ceremony." Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 105. The family would like to thank the staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital fourth floor, DMH Hospice, Dr. D. Patel and McKinley Court Nursing Home for their care and compassion. The family of Barbara Jean Gandy is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N.
