Dennis Ferris Obituary

DECATUR - Dennis Dean Ferris, 62, of rural Jonesboro, died on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Memphis V.A. Medical Center. Dennis was born in Illinois and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He moved to Jonesboro, AR in 1973 after serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked 20+ years as a Printer for Krueger and World Color in Jonesboro. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Felice Desiree and Tracy Don Troutman of Paragould; 1 son, Jason Daniel Ferris of Jonesboro; 1 brother Dike (Marge) Ferris of Decatur, Illinois; 3 sisters Becky (Howard) Searle of Elgin, Illinois, Harla (Michael) Reagan of Decatur, Illinois and Sally Ballee of Jonesboro; 3 grandchildren: Caleb Samuel Cooper, Carissa Denise Cooper, and Tyler Don Troutman; and an aunt and uncle, Chester and Luella Sirois of Jonesboro; 1 "chosen" daughter: Frances Evonne Butler; 4 "chosen" grandchildren, Sarah Beth Thompson, Kalitha Lee Rose, Hannah Gabriel Butler, and Hailey Faith Butler; and 1 "chosen" great-grandson: Koby Taylor Thompson; and 2 beloved dogs: Ollie and Little Girl. A graveside funeral service will be held this Saturday morning at 10:00 in Pine Log Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie in state Friday evening beginning at 5:00 at the home of Felice and Tracy Troutman, 1595 Greene 728, south of Paragould, near Woods Chapel United Methodist Church. For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030. Online registry at www.emersonfuneralhome.com.
