Esther Pastor Obituary

PANA - Esther M. Pastor, 100, of Pana died Friday, June 3, 2011 in Heritage Manor-Pana. She was born on October 18, 1910 in Pana, the daughter of Clarence & Cara Kerr Pope. After graduation from Pana Township High School, Esther attended business college in St. Louis for two years. She lived in Pana her entire life, except for a short time in Peoria. Esther was the office manager at Purity Baking Company in Pana, Decatur & Vandalia. She and her husband traveled extensively to Europe and Slovakia to visit her husband's family. She was an accomplished pianist, who played by ear. She enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing, and being with her family. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana. Esther Pope and Andrew Pastor were united in marriage on May 21, 1933. She is survived by their children: Donna Duck, Pana, IL; Andrea Sullivan & husband Thomas, Venice FL; Carol Mollusky, Pana, IL; Darlene Jones & husband Gilbert, Decatur, IL; and John Pastor & wife Deborah, Pana, IL; 23 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1984, son-in-law: William Duck in 2000, son-in-law: Anthony Mollusky, brother: Leonard Pope, and sister: Mabel Ulery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association. Funeral mass will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz and Father Robert Spriggs as concelebrants. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
