Gary Len Kirkwood

SULLIVAN - Gary Len Kirkwood, 52, of Sullivan passed away 8:20 a.m. Thursday May 12, 2011, in his home in Sullivan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011 at the First General Baptist Church in Mattoon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday May 15, 2011 at First General Baptist Church in Mattoon. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to the First General Baptist Church 708 S. Ninth St. Mattoon, IL 61938 or the Parkinson Foundation. Gary was born October 24, 1958 in Decatur, the son of Raymond Virgil and Venita Merle (Standerfer) Kirkwood. He married Lana Marie Buser November 9, 1985 in Mattoon. He worked at Donnelleys for twenty eight years, he was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Mattoon as well as served as Deacon and Elder, he was an avid golfer, and he was a volunteer coach for the Sullivan Golf and Girls Softball teams. He is survived by his wife Lana; son, Quentin (Erin) Hanley of Mattoon; daughter, Brandi Hanley of Sullivan; brothers, Alan (Sheila) Kirkwood of Sullivan, Scott (Helen) Wilson of Ashland, KY; sisters, Donna (Dale) Bland of Bethany, Debbie (Jim) Jent of Sullivan; grandchildren, Briannae Saunders and Layla Hanley.
