Hale Henderson Obituary

DECATUR - Hale Henderson, 92, of Decatur, formerly of Kenney, died 4:15 p.m. June 8, 2011 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Masonic services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with memorial services following. Steve Ingram will officiate. No visitation or burial. Memorials are to Little Galilee Christian Assembly, Heart Fund, or donor's choice. Send condolences to www.calvertmemorial.com. Mr. Henderson was born March 31, 1919, in DeWitt County, the son of Harry Edward Henderson and Ura Fay Shepherd. Hale served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Caterpillar after 27 years of service. He was a member of Masonic Ionic Lodge 312 AF & AM Decatur, Felicity Chapter 387 Order of Eastern Star, Normal, and Bloomington Consistory. He married Mattie Monts in 1941 in Manhattan, Kan. She preceded him in death. He later married Bernice Patterson on June 11, 1977, in Clinton. She preceded him in death Oct. 23, 2008. Surviving are his son, Patrick Henderson and wife Jill of Edwardsville; daughters, Marilyn Huisinga, Dee Ann Smith and husband Ron, all of Monticello; sister, Harriett Morrison of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Andrew Hale Henderson; Stephen Conrad Henderson; brother, Keith Henderson; sister, Reva Brelsfoard. Mr. Henderson would "mall" walk every Monday and Friday if his sis would drive him here and he always stopped into a variety of stores and visited the employees - we looked forward to talking to him and enjoyed his dry sense of humor. - The staff at Waldenbooks
