DECATUR - Jerry Dean Peters, 44, of Decatur, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Monday, May 02, 2011, at Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Graveside services to celebrate Jerry's life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Graceland Cemetery with the "Flight Home" Ceremony to conclude the service. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Graceland/ Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Jerry was born September 2, 1966 in Decatur, the son of Richard and Judie (Ashby) Peters. He was a race car driver. Jerry enjoyed drawing, NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs and the Oakland Raiders. He married Cassandra Corn February 25, 1990. He leaves behind his wife Cassandra, sons, Joshua Dean Peters of Shelbyville and Jason Dean and Corey Richard Peters both of Decatur, father, Richard "Rich" Peters of Decatur, sister, Dena Peters of Decatur, aunts, Edna, Lori, Cheryl, and Delene, all of Illinois, nephews, Brock and Braxton Eckart, niece, Brooke Eckart, cousin, Michael Jesse, and special friends, Rick Morris and Curtis Snoke. He was reunited in Heaven with his mother and grandparents. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital especially to Ashley from ICU for all of their loving compassionate care.
