Josephine Coley

DECATUR - Josephine Coley, 68, departed this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Josephine was born April 13, 1943 in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of Leroy Shaw and Levenia Heard Shaw. She worked for twenty-eight years as a CNA for Addus Healthcare, retiring in 2005, and was a faithful member of New Life Church of God. She will be deeply missed by all who came in contact with her. Josephine was like a mother by a multitude of people and was known as "Mother Coley" to the many lives she touched in a God fearing and motherly way. She united in Holy matrimony to William Coley on January 24, 1967. Mother Coley leaves precious memories to her husband William "Pop Coley" of Decatur; sons Larry (Antionette) Shaw of Chicago, Ricky (Tammy) Shaw of Decatur and Maurice (Felicia) Coley of Rockford; daughters Sharon (Richard) Hardy and Patricia (Marvin) Thomas both of Decatur; sisters Laverne Shaw of Decatur and Sleddie Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; special friend Lenora Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Her parents, daughter Linda Denise Coley, sister Pearlie Mae Jones, brothers Freddie and James Johnson and one grandchild preceded her in death. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. followed be Celebration of Life service at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 20, 2011 at New Life Church of God, 1275 E. Division St., with Rev. Brenda J.
