Melba Ann Bales

SULLIVAN - Melba Ann Bales, 71, of Sullivan passed away 11:04 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will start at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Grandchildren Scholarship Fund at the First National Bank 1 South Main Street Sullivan, IL 61951. Melba was born in Shumway on March 10, 1940, the daughter of William J. and Hester (Barker) Heiden. She married James Henry Bales September 4, 1960 in Stewardson, he survives. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Sullivan, and the former Co-Owner Big Jim's Pizza in Sullivan. She is survived by her husband James; son, Scott (Tonya) Bales of Sullivan; daughters, Heide (Ron) Burgess of Sullivan and Jamie (Chris) Bales of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Carl (Cathy) Heiden of Effingham; Marie (Leon) Ruwe of Springfield and Dorothy (Mike) Weber of Strasburg; grandchildren, Mindy (Shannon) Miller, Lindsey Burgess, Brock Bales, Lily Bales, James Bales, and Anna Bales; great grandchildren, Wyatt Miller, Aiden Burgess and Will Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-n-law, Henry Bales; sister-in-laws, Patricia Lading and Janet Shultz; niece, Angela Shultz; nephew, Allen Bales.
