Rex Sutton Obituary

ATWOOD - Rex L. Sutton, 78, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 10:50 pm, Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, Mattoon, IL Celebration of Life Services will be held at 6:30 pm, Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Jerry Reeder officiating. No Visitation will be held. Rex was born on April 23, 1933 in Clay City, IN, the son of George W. and Bertha L. Roach Sutton. He married Erma L. Dobbs on October 19, 1988 in Atwood, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his children: Rex A. Sutton of Champaign, IL, Mikel L. Sutton of Camargo, IL, Cathy J. Raymer of Camargo, IL, grandchildren: Jennifer J. Postlewaite, Kyle D. Raymer and Felishia R. Sutton, great-grandchildren: Dustin and Samantha J. Campbell, step-daughters: Teresa Watters, Brenda Franklin and Linda Dallas all of Tuscola, IL, Vicki Carter of Hugo, IL, five step-grandsons, four step-granddaughters, 6 step-great-grandsons and three step-great-granddaughters, brother: Richard L. Sutton of Clay City, IN, He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Leland W. Sutton and Merle R. Sutton Rex worked as a chemist at USI Quantum Chemical Company in Tuscola for 39 years, retiring in 1991. He built several homes, enjoyed woodworking, canoeing, hunting and he mowed for the Village of Atwood. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
