Rita Burke Obituary

MONTICELLO - Rita Fay Burke, 62, of Monticello died at 6:50am Friday (May 20, 2011) at Kirby Hospital in Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10am Tuesday at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Bob Lane officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 7pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Monticello Township Cemetery. Rita was born on May 2, 1949 in Bloomington, IL., the daughter of Walter & Alma (Knoll) Scott. She married Raymond Burke on Oct. 6, 1967 in Eureka, IL. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Burke of Monticello; father Walter (Doris) Scott of Eureka; sons Ray (Penny) Burke Jr. of Lawrenceburg, KY, David (Stacy) Burke of DeLand; daughter Lisa (Jered) Shofner of Weldon; brother Steve Scott of Washington, IL.; granddaughters Maddison & Lauren Burke of DeLand, Molly Pearson of Assumption and Mandy (Justin) Hall of Lawrenceburg, KY; great-grandkids Haylee, Jackson and Falken of Assumption, Carter and Corbin of Lawrenceburg, KY. She was preceded in death by her mother and sister, Sandy Gooding. Rita was known for her love of family and friends, especially her granddaughters. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
