HEPFER Nancy Marie Hepfer (Harkins), 66, passed away August 23, 2013 in her home near Sombrero Beach in Marathon. A 28 year resident of Marathon, Nancy was formerly of Collingdale, Pennsylvania where she grew up with her brother Jack Harkins (predeceased) and parents John & Gladys Harkins (predeceased). Nancy had a passion for writing and aspired to be a news journalist. She attended Temple University to receive her degree in Journalism. After marrying, she had 2 daughters, Suzanne Hepfer Aungst of Newtown Square, PA, and Cindy Hepfer Cooley of Berlin, MD. She is survived by her two daughters and five grandchildren, Lacey & Alana Aungst, and Willie, Alex, & Sara Cooley. Nancy's many talents allowed her to engage in an array of interesting careers. She worked in banks and sold insurance. She also obtained her Real Estate & Brokers licenses. All of her hard work was driven by her dream of moving to the Florida Keys. Nancy loved the Key's life. After moving to the Keys, Nancy settled into the restaurant business managing the Yacht Club, American Legion, and other resorts and marinas in the area. She was even the official first mate on a sail boat cruise where she doubled as the chef (cooking was another of her talents). Of the many positions she had included owning her own her restaurant and working for the census bureau. Nancy most valued her family. This was seen in the care she gave to her mother, Gladys, during her last years and the generous love she adored her daughters and grandchildren with. For today her family would ask that her friends remember her during a beautiful Florida Keys sunset where she lived and loved being at for the past 28 years. A celebration of life for Nancy and the life she enjoyed shall be held at a later date.
