Vila, Esperanza - Coral Gables  
VILA, ESPERANZA came to Miami in 1944. A resident of Coral Gables, Esperanza was devoted to family, her entire life. Her parents fled Cuba in the early 60"s and found a home by her side. Her brothers and sister all managed to get here too and her survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Roberto 23 years ago She is survived by daughter Teresa L. Vila and her son William. A son Robert, his wife Diana Barrett and grandchildren Cristopher, Monica and Susannah Vila and her great- granddaughters Shea Frances, and Hope. Burial was at Flagler Memorial Park.

Volpe, Salvatore - Miami  
VOLPE, SALVATORE, age 91, passed away January 20, 2015. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy as a top turret gunner on a bomber patrol squadron along the Pacific Northwest. He was admitted to Pilot Training Class 49B (the 49 Bees) and was a B29 pilot for Strategic Air Command U.S. Air Force Korean War. Sal met his wife, Connie in Miami Beach in 1952. Growing up in an Italian immigrant family in Chicago, Sal sold newspapers and delivered coal. He had a long, successful career as the manager of Candle Corporation of America, where he was affectionately known as "Sal the Candle Man." Never wanting to retire, Sal founded Intimex and then Sacred Traditions, a religious supply and botanica. A devout Catholic, he was a longtime member and usher at Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie; seven children, Vaughn, Vanessa, Valerie, Adriana, Paula, Peter and Matt; and six grandchildren, Ciera, Nicolai, Luke, Matthew, Jack and Madelyn. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday, 1/25 with Wake Service at 7:00 PM at Stanfill Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, 1/26 at Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152 St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa in Miami or to the National Shrine of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini in Chicago.
