WARE-COX, PENNY LEE, AKA Penny L Jones passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at Harmony Health Center at Green Briar. Penny was born in Flynt, Michigan on June 10, 1945. Penny is survived by her husband, Joseph Ward Cox, daughter, Virginia (Ginger) E Cox, step daughters Cathy Prieto and Sharon Draper, sister, Carolyn Enlow, and niece Cathy Downey. She worked for the US Customs Service in Washington, DC, Nassau, Bahamas, and Miami, Florida. Penny will be remembered as an independent, vivacious, and loving woman. Visitation will be Tuesday, 7:00 pm at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Funeral Home, 11655 SW 117 Avenue, Miami, Florida.Burial will be Friday, December 26 at the Brevard Memorial Park, Cocoa, Florida. No flowers or donations are requested.

ARABATZIS, IRENE, 83, passed away 12/20/2014. She is survived by her son Angelo (Jackie), grandchildren Perry (Yuli), Greg (Cristi) Arabatzis, Pete Manos and Alexandra Pennington. She is predeceased by her son Pete Manos. Irene will be missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held at Van Orsdel Kendall Chapel today Monday December 22, 2014 from 6-10 pm. Services Tuesday at 1:00 pm at St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church 7901 North Kendall Drive followed by interment at Graceland Memorial Park South

Berlin, Lila M. - Miami  
BERLIN, LILA M., 91, Aventura, FL, daughter of Esther and Martin, widow of George J. Berlin, ascended on Saturday night, after spending the day with her children (Louis & Nancy, Susan & Lior, Tobey & David, Charles & Dalia), sister (Marilyn Bergmann), family members, and caregivers, who watched over her for the past twenty-plus years. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and loving family members. Burial was Sunday, beside her late husband George. Her soul is pure, her virtues are infinite, her life a blessing. May her memory be a comfort for the numerous people who were touched by her presence and who mourn her passing. Donations in her memory may be made to Temple Sinai of North Dade, (her and George's spiritual home for the past forty-three years) or a charity of your choice. BD"E. Hero, George F. - Miami  
HERO, GEORGE F. ("Domer"...as in Notre Dame), passed away Wednesday, December 17 at the age of 84 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana to George and Frances Hero who had immigrated from the Island of Kirk in Croatia. George was a passionate basket- ball player at East Chicago Washington High School where he was a member of the 1948 state championship team. George graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he was inspired to pursue the field of law. After one year of Notre Dame Law School, he was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Korean War. When he returned, he completed his law degree at the University of Miami. George practiced law in the Miami area for over 50 years. He is survived by his supportive wife, Marie, and three incredible children: daughters, Samantha Langkammerer (Jason), Heather Huffard (Josh) and son Bart Hero: five grandchildren, Lee, Edie, Beckett, Oliver and Jack. In Indiana, he is survived by his brother Joseph M. Hero, wife Janet and niece Julie. George treasured his group of dear friends who have been very supportive throughout the years for that his family is very thankful. There will be a Mass on Monday, December 29 at 10am at St. Augustine Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the University of Notre Dame in the name of George F. Hero. Ansoategui, Carlos  
Carlos Ansoategui, 98, passed away at home in the arms of his family. He went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2014: the beloved son of Santiago Ansoategui and Teresa Bello. Brother of Rita Jelinek, John Ansoategui, Teresa Ventura and Josefa Ventura. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Luz; his loving children: John (Maria), Carlos, Sherry, Rita (Roland), and Teresa (Joseph) and Milagros (Heriberto). Proud grandfather of Elisabeth, Daniel, Gabriel, Steven, Christopher, Carlos Jr., James, Joseph and Julie and joyful great-grandfather of; Angel, Jovani, Cristian, Joseph Jr., and Scarlett, Matthew and Madison. Carlos affectionately remembered and often spoke fondly of his nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Always on the go, Carlos enjoyed walking and socializing with friends and family. He lived his life and lived it well. Dad you blessed our lives so greatly. You are in our hearts forever and will be loved always. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Miami Springs, on December 12, 2014, at 12:30 pm. Bernstein, Stuart - Miramar  
BERNSTEIN, STUART, 83, died December 19 Dr. Bernstein, a retired dentist, died at his home in Miramar. Dr. Bernstein retired three years ago after practicing dentistry in Miami Springs, FL for over 50 years. He was a native of Chicago, IL. He attended the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry, served two years in the Air Force, and started his practice in Miami Springs in 1959. Dr. Bernstein loved dentistry and his patients were his extended family. He was extremely talented with his hands and as a hobby practiced metal sculpture, for which he once won first place in a local art contest. He was an avid reader and had a wealth of knowledge about many subjects, as well as a fantastic sense of humor, which he often used to get his patients relaxed. Treatment always started with the joke of the day. He had a zest for travel and traveled the world. He leaves his wife, Vira; a sister, Sandra; his first wife Ann; four children: Kenneth, Cheryl, Duane, and Glenn; and nine grandchildren: Julian, Evan, Graham, Avery, Reed, Shane, Eva, Nina and Lana; two nephews and one niece. Buil, Rafel - Miami  
BUIL, RAFEL, died peacefully at his home on December 13, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife Emelia Buil, only thirty one days earlier, November 12, 2014, also at home. Originally both from Camaquey Cuba, they immigrated to Miami Florida in 1961 with their two young daughters. Embracing their new country, they worked diligently to establish multiple business, the one most proud of was the one that carried the family name. Buil Auto Parts stood in the same location for over 35 years and Rafael was known for his generosity with the residents of Wynwood. The importance of family, goodwill and work ethics were enforced topics in the Buil household. After retirement Rafael and Emelia took time to enjoy each other and their family. They are survived by daughters Maria E. Schwartz (Jerry), Daisy Fernandez (Ross), Grandson Joseph Schwartz (Lani) and great grandaughter Abigail. Donations in their name may be sent to Catholic Hospice.

Chaille, Janis Plass - Miami  
CHAILLE, JANIS PLASS, died peacefully at home on Saturday,December 13, 2014 in Miami. She was born in Vincennes, IN on August 06, 1925 and was the youngest of four children. She grew up working on the family farm near the town of Decker, IN. At age ten, she was driving farm hands to various fields to work, and by her teenage years she was responsible for packing house duties. Janis graduated at the top of her high school class. After school she also worked at a medical lab, earning her medical lab technology certification. She met her husband, Robert, at the local USO in 1944. While waiting for his return from the European theater, she took flying lessons. They were married in 1945 in Vincennes, IN. They moved to Galveston, TX until the conclusion of WWII. Afterwards they moved to Miami, FL where Janis worked as a medical lab technician for several years until Robert started flying with Eastern Airlines. They lived and raised their two sons, Bruce and Thomas in Miami. Janis was very active in sports, became Miami Shores Golf Club Champion several times, and also won other regional golf championships. She was an active water skier at Greater Miami Water Ski Club, and enjoyed snow skiing with her family each winter. After retirement they spent their summers in Crested Butte, CO hunting, hiking, and motorcycle riding. Janis is survived by her husband Robert, son Thomas, daughter in law Sandra, grandchildren Bryan, Alexander, Andrew and Catherine; daughter in law Barbara, grandchildren Allison, Meagan, Melissa, great grandchildren Madison and Lexi.

GAVELEK, PHYLLIS E., 86, of Brandon passed away on December 18, 2014. She was born on March 26, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Dale Alderman and Marie Pernie. Phyllis was a graduate of the University of Miami was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Miami. Phyllis is survived by a son Charles Gavelek, Jr., daughters Jerri Laubenthal, Vicki Blankenship, Gayle Chimo, Debbie Frazier, and Cathy Mindheim, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11am at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 10am to the start of the service. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery.
