PARKER, BETTY LANIER, passed away on June 10, 2013 with her family by her side at age 82. She was a native Miamian born the 30th of July, 1930 to Dr. William T. and Montine Lanier. She graduated from Miami Senior High in 1948 and attended the University of Georgia
where she was a Chi Omega. In 1952 she married Robert L. Parker, also a native Miamian who was born on the same day and date as Betty. Shortly thereafter they moved to California for three years where Bob served as an active duty Naval Officer. From there they embarked on a wonderful journey through the Bahamas, beginning with Andros Island when they together with Bob's brother successfully pioneered farming for export, and then opened the Andros Beach Hotel. Then, on to Chub Cay, Freeport, and Nassau. Betty was a member of the Museum League, The Junior League of Miami, and greatly enjoyed Recording for the Blind. She was a devout Christian and served on the staff or Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church and Emanuel Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her devoted husband, 3 children, Bruce L. Parker of Hollywood, FL, Scott R. Parker, Laura Parker Moylan, and her husband Clint, and grandson Carter N. Moylan, a sister, Alice Jean Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be private, and internment will be at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
