Corydon Himelberger

HIMELBERGER, DR. CORYDON GEORGE Born December 5, 1924 in Benton Harbor Michigan, passed away March 11, 2014 at home in Key Largo, FL at peace. Dr. Himelberger is predeceased by his wife Rosemary. He is survived by his sister Nancy Laman, daughter Heidi Poortman, sons Corydon Mark, Michael George, Todd James, Scott John, John David, fourteen grandchildren and his beloved friend Jeannine Nightingale. Our father served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He went ashore on Omaha Beach during World War II and received two bronze stars. He later became a Doctor of Osteopathy with practices in Riverside, CA, Flat Rock, MI, Marathon, FL, Grosse Pointe, MI, and Sunrise, FL. He was one of four doctors who started Fisherman's Hospital in Marathon, FL in 1962. He also served with the Air Force as a physician with the rank of Colonel in Germany and San Antonio, TX. Cory loved to travel and visited many sites during the past few years, but his favorite was Windjammer Cruises in the Caribbean. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM, Thursday March 13, 2014 at St. Justin the Martyr Catholic, 105500 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, FL.
