Dorothy Danaher White

Dorothy Lynn Danaher White, Ed.D, known to her family as "Dottie", of Miami, Florida, passed away at Doctor's Hospital on May 8, 2014 after a valiant fight against cancer. Dorothy was 55. Dorothy was a psychologist, volunteer, activist, poet, playwright, and gifted writer of prose. Her passion was helping others. Following her graduation from Coral Gables High School in 1977, she went to Clark University, Worcester, MA, and graduated with a BS in Psychology in 1981. She then completed her masters and doctoral degrees at Harvard University, earning a Doctorate in Education in Developmental Psychology in 1994. Her psychology practice focused on childhood development and ultimately included counseling prison inmates and helping geriatric patients. Dorothy was born on April 20, 1959 in Torrington, CT to Ann Fisher of Coral Gables, FL and William J. Danaher of Litchfield, CT. She is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher Michael White; her stepchildren, Amanda Patricia Baez, Sara Frances White, and Christopher Michael White, Jr.; her mother, Ann Fisher; father, William J. Danaher; her uncle, William Douglas "Doug" Fisher of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; her sister, Jo Ann Chitty, and two nephews, Stephen William Chitty and David Neal Chitty of Atlanta, GA; her half brother, William J. Danaher, Ph.D London, Ontario; stepbrother, Dr. John W. Danaher, Chicago, IL., and dear stepdaughters Gloria Gilpin and Joy Gilpin, Miami FL. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 10000 SW 107th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33176. The service will begin at 11:00 am. Guests may arrive at 10:30 am. Visitation will follow from noon until 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, or a .
