Eugene Mike Breuer

BREUER, EUGENE "MIKE", passed away at home surrounded by his wife and loving family on June 8 after an 18 month battle with cancer. Mike was born August 9, 1955 at Laughlin AFB, the seventh of nine children in a military family. The Breuer clan moved to Cutler Ridge in 1964. Mike grew up active in Khoury league baseball and Optimist league football and was Palmetto High school's starting tight end in 1973. Mike attended University of Florida where he was briefly on the gator football squad. Mike was out going and generous to a fault. He was known and loved by many, especially here in South Florida. Mike's career was in the construction industry. He was a licensed general contractor with major projects such as the Homestead Racetrack and Adams Laboratories. Later he was the South Florida Safety Manager with Safeway Scaffolding. His interests were numerous, Florida history, fruit trees, music, auto racing, but first and foremost, fishing. Whether it was bridge or jetty, offshore or inshore, Mike did it well. He was an accomplished free diver who loved and revered South Florida's patch reefs. Mike is survived by his devoted wife Roberta "Birdie" Breuer, his mom Mary Frances, sisters Mary, Marcia, and Ann, and his brothers Chuck, Bill, Bob and Chris, numerous nieces and nephews as well as legions of friends.
