Garth Rockwood Parker

PARKER, GARTH ROCKWOOD, 80, passed on February 16, 2014. Born in Bennington, VT, the son of William Parker and Helen Ruth Rockwood Parker. Received a BA from Haverford College and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration at Cornell University. Rosalie Coe Seely-Brown Parker, his wife of 55 years, passed away earlier this year. Father of three sons, Garth Rockwood Parker Jr., Ph.D. (Karen Fenic Parker) of Lansdale, PA, Richard Lee Parker of San Francisco, CA, and William Seely-Brown Parker (Victoria Rankin Parker) of Safety Harbor, FL, and four grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Parker, Robert Graveson Parker, Christopher William Parker, and Hayley Rose Parker. Brother to Florence Parker Cole (Dr. G. William Cole, M.D.), of Mountain Brook, AL and brother-in-law to Horace Seely-Brown (Hood Yielding Seely-Brown) of Lincolnshire, IL and Constance Cliffe of Old Lyme, CT. Formerly resided in Bryn Mawr and Gladwynne, PA, Los Angeles, CA, Birmingham and Bloomfield Hill, MI, Wilmington, DE, Stamford and New Canaan, CT, and for the last 40 years in Coral Gables, FL. For the past four decades, has served as President of SOMAY Products, Inc. of Miami, FL. Active member of the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, the Coral Bay Yacht Club, the Riviera Country Club, the Haverford College Alumni Association, the Cornell University Alumni Association, the Executives Association of Greater Miami, the Orange Bowl Committee, and the Rotary Club of Miami (past President and past District Governor). A celebration of Garth's life will be held Saturday afternoon, March 1 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables, FL.
