YOUNG, Mary Patricia (Pat) May 13, 1932 Dec 21. 2012 Pat Young, born to Edward Robert Young Jr. and Mary Cecilia McCarthy in Dearborn, Michigan on May 13, 1932, died in Miami, Florida on December 21, 2012. Sweet, funny, caring and bright, Pat graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois and attended Manhattanville College in New York. She transferred to Northwestern University
as a junior and graduated from there. She was in the travel business in Evanston and Chicago until the late sixties and took advantage of the numerous travel benefits available, visiting many countries. Pat made a mid life career change and returned to school to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science, She headed the Literature and Language Information Center at the Chicago Public Library and enjoyed many years there until retiring in 1998. She loved retirement and continued to travel, was an avid reader, and took and led history courses at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institue in Chicago until she moved to Miami in 2009 to be closer to her family. Her only sister, Marge Young Dwyer Rackham died in 2011 and her parents also preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and nephews Paul Dwyer of Maryland, Tim Dwyer of California, Katie Manrique of Colombia, Ceci Baldacci and Pat Dwyer of Miami, by 12 grand nieces and nephews, two great grandnephews, and by cousins, especially her close friend and cousin Meg McCarthy and husband Dave Ward of Chicago. Pat had many, many close and dear friends who also survive her, and a memorial will be held at a later date in Chicago.
