Murray Miles Brown III

Brown, Murray Miles, III, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, less than four months after being diagnosed with cancer. He was only 63. He was cherished by every erson who knew him, and he brought warmth to those around him with his smile and his charm. His family was his greatest and true love. Murray was a native of South Florida, and he spent his life enjoying and appreciating Miami's outdoors from the waterways to the Everglades. He was an avid fisherman, boater, scuba diver, surfer and hunter. He was also a lover and trainer of dogs, especially German Shepherds. Murray worked in carpentry and construction before becoming a Miami Beach police officer in the 80's. For the last decade, Murray has worked side by side with his son, Murray IV, doing woodwork and carpentry. Murray III could fix anything. And he never said no. He was a storyteller, and he shared his vast wisdom with everyone he knew. He was a wonderful and caring son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He is predeceased by his father, Murray M. Brown, Jr., who died on the same date in 1997. He is survived by his mother Grace K. Brown, his sister Patricia Blystone, his brother James Brown; his children Michelle Brown Lopez, Murray and Liz Brown, Taylor and Mindy Brown; and his grandchildren, Alexis Lopez, Sydney Brown, Murray Brown V, Anabella Brown and Alexander Brown. Also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews and several cousins. He will be forever missed. Viewing will be Sunday, May 19 from 2:00 until 5:00 at Van Orsdel Funeral Chapel at 11220 North Kendall Drive, Miami. Murray's love of the Everglades is a gift he gave to all of us.
