DABBY, Dr. Victor, has died at the age of 92. He graduated from the Medical School of the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Thereafter he moved to the United States and did his internship at St. Elizabeth Hospital in New Jersey and his residency in Brooklyn, New York. He met Emily Curtin in 1948 and they were married in 1949. During the
Korean War, he joined the Air Force as Captain and was stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia. He had a great sense of humor and was an excellent story teller. At Moody Air Force Base, the Commander's beloved dog fell ill and Dr. Dabby was ordered to save the dog's life, which he did despite never having operated on a dog. After that, the rest of his time at Moody Air Force Base was a smooth ride for himself, Emily, and their three young children: Diana, Suzanne, and David. Later in 1964 during Hurricane Cleo, Emily gave birth to their fourth child, John. Dr. Dabby was thrilled, handing out cigars to every one in sight. Humor aside, he was a very skilled surgeon, having saved many lives during his career, including several that had little hope of surviving. Dr. Dabby and his family moved to Miami after his honorable Air Force discharge. He began his surgical practice in Coral Gables, Florida, and remained in the same office for over 50 years. He along with 50 other doctors started South Miami Hospital. He served the hospital and the community for his entire professional career as a doctor, Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff, President, Chairman of the Board, and was awarded South Miami Hospital's"Man of the Year." He was a devoted doctor and put his patients first. He and his family often took Sunday rides but only after first driving to the various hospitals where Dr. Dabby made his rounds checking his patients. All who knew and loved him will always feel a great loss. There will be a visitation from 12-1pm on Friday, 2/22 followed by a service at 1pm at
