Rae Trapolino Houghton

HOUGHTON, RAE TRAPOLINO Rae T. Houghton, of Pinecrest, FL, passed away peacefully in her home on May 28. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher. Her vibrant personality, humor, and kindness was apparent to so many whose lives she touched in the 40+ years she lived in South Florida. Rae was predeceased by her husband, Jonathan. Together they raised their children, Kimberly and Vincent, to be joyful, accomplished, and compassionate adults. Their marriage of almost 50 years was a beautiful example of love, devotion, and strength, providing a lifetime of guidance to their extended family. To her son-in-law Matthew Barry and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Yglesias Houghton, Rae opened her heart and her home, welcoming them graciously into the family. She took great joy in her grandchildren, Devon and Patrick, and would just as easily join in a lightsaber battle as she would read them a book or teach them guitar. Her many, many friends loved her for her fierce loyalty as well as her zany sense of humor. Rae built a robust guitar program at Hammocks Middle School, where she taught for over a decade. To her students she instilled more than just a love of music; her respect and support carried over way beyond the classroom. A viewing and service will be held at 5pm on Friday, June 2 at
