JAMES PIERCE MURRAY

MURRAY, JAMES (JIM) PIERCE, 60, passed away June 2nd, 2011, at home after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Jim was born in Moyock, North Carolina and received his Bachelor Degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Jim was a partner in the law firm Fowler White Burnett. Jim's civic involvement was vast and included membership to the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. An avid sports fisherman, Jim was a longtime member and two-time President of the Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club. Jim is survived by his wife Bonnie, sons William Kyle, a Naval Officer stationed in Norfolk Virginia, and Kevin and John of Miami. A service will be held Sunday, June 5th, 1:00pm at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, 33143 followed by a graveside burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Hope, a bereavement camp for kids who have lost a loved one.
