On February 4, 2015, Irwin traveled by himself to the Historic Courthouse in West Palm Beach to handle a pro bono case on behalf of the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics. After the meeting, I had the privilege of walking into the historic courtroom with him. He advised that he had tried many cases there in his more than 60 years of law practice. These facts speak volumes about the greatness of this man.

Sonny was a kind, gentle man. He held a special place in my heart and I truly appreciated his friendship with my parents. I still can't believe that he had my parents out sailing! Your memory is a blessing to all who knew you and all of those whose lives you touched?

My condolences to your family. He was my father's best man, and showed his affection to him over the years. He mentored me a few times, and it was very helpful to me. I know this is a huge loss for your family. He was fortunate to get many more years after his heart issues, long ago.

Irwin will be remembered for the many kindnesses he showed young lawyers. Always courteous, a gentleman, polished and prepared. I was deeply saddened by the news of his passing.

I am saddened to learn of Irwin's passing. I served with him on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners for several years. Irwin was a giant in the legal profession and there will not likely be another like him. He was also a true gentleman. I will miss him.
