MARY ELIZABETH CYPHER

CYPHER, MARY ELIZABETH, was born September 15, 1919 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania and passed away in her home on February 7th, 2012. Mary was the loving wife of George Cypher (deceased), beloved mother of 3 daughters Mary Elizabeth Cegelis (William), Ann Marie Griffin (Tim) and Barbara Jean O'Rourke (Terry). She was the cherished grandmother of Sean and Claire O'Rourke. After graduating from Immaculate Conception High School, she attended Mount Mercy College in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Mary joined the Women's Army Corp and served during the Second World War in Germany. Mary served for more than eight years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. She married George A. Cypher while serving in Germany in December 1951. Mary and George moved their family to Homestead in 1961. Mary was a Bell South employee for 15 years. Mary was also a member of the American Business Women's Association. After retiring from Bell South in 1984, Mary joined her daughter and spent the majority of her days at Ann Marie's dress shop in Homestead. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and coworkers. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Homestead since 1961.
