Arthur was a founder and past president of the Scheck Hillel Community Day School and life member of Beth Torah Congregation of North Miami Beach. He lived his live by the philosophy that if you take from a community you give back to the community. Because of his philanthropic values he was fortunate enough to name the Ben Lipson Hillel High School in memory of his father. He endowed the Familial Dysautonomia Dys/Course Newsletter in memory of his daughter. Along with his family, in 2006 the Elaine Jamie Lipson Friends of the March of Living Scholarship was created to promote awareness of Jewish genetic disease testing and to assist every Broward County B'nai Mitzvah with the opportunity to participate on the March. Most important to him was his family. Arthur was the beloved husband of Shelly Dorfman Lipson for 52 years; loving father of Eric Lipson, Debbie Lipson, Heather and Joseph Schimmel; most adoring Zaydee of Sarah, Ben and Dana Lipson and Rose, Ilana and Mara Schimmel; dear brother of Phyllis Loff, brother-in-law of Bud and Karen Dorfman, Alivia Lipson; nephew of Yetta Perlman; and a devoted uncle and cousin. He is predeceased by daughter, Elaine Jamie Lipson, brother Robert Lipson and brother-in-law Sanford Loff. He lived his life with integrity and whose last years, marked by health challenges, was a profile of courage. Arthur had the most positive attitude and fighting spirit that was truly inspiring to all. The family profusely thanks his devoted Medical Staff at the University of Miami Hospital and caregivers, including, Dr. Joshua Hare, Dr. James Trice, Dr. Gabriel Contreras, Dr. Mohammad Jahanzeb, Dialysis RN Raymonde Davis and his angel in tee shirts and shorts, Richard Ryan who took meticulous care of Arthur with dignity and love.
