FAIRFAX, ATHERTON M. Jr., 91 years old, died on November 3, 2013 in Coral Springs Florida. He was born in Washington, D.C. to Fairfax, Sr. and Mildred Atherton. A resident of Miami for more than 50 years, he was a major in the US Air Force and served in World War II. Later, he was the assistant store manager for Burdines in West Palm Beach, FL. Fairfax also owned and operated a deep-sea fishing charter boat at the Sailfish Center on Singer Island, FL. Subsequently, as a master air conditioning technician, he served at the National Institutes of Health, the VA Hospital, and operated his own air conditioning business. Fairfax was an accomplished seaman and held a Coast Guard Merchant Marine License. He was an outdoors man who loved boating, fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He is survived by his two sons Victor and Blair Atherton. He also has six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate to
