HARRINGTON, Judge Donald F., 83, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Overton for 56 years. He was the loving father of Donald Jr. (Tracy) and the caring grand-father of Grace and Donald III. He was predeceased by his grand-daughter, Christina and his sister, Nancy Rowland (Thomas). Don was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio to Willis and Dorothy Harrington. He graduated Western Reserve University with a BBA degree and later received his LLB, LLM, and JD degrees from Cleveland-Marshall Law School, and was Assistant Editor of the Law Review. He served as a Judge of the Industrial Claims Courts in Miami and at Large. He served for many years as legal counsel representing the P.B.A. and F.O.P. In 2011 he was honored by The Florida Bar Association for having served 50 years as an attorney in Florida. Don was very proud of his Irish heritage and was a past president and life member of the Emerald Society of South Florida. He was a founding member of its annual St. Patrick's Day parade committee and was a member of the Order of the Leprechaun. Through his Irish ancestral ties to County Roscommon, he is listed in the Irish Book of Foreign Births and also held Irish citizenship. Don served as the Exalted Ruler of the Coral Gables Elks Lodge #1676. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On the ship going to Korea, the Army found out that he could type and he was immediately repositioned to serve as company clerk in Nuremberg, Germany and was part of the American peace-keeping force during the Occupation of Germany after World War II. He was active in several veterans' groups, including the VFW. Don was especially proud of the fact that he had joined the American Legion Post #1 in Paris, France while stationed in Germany. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, 4/5 at Stanfill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11am Saturday 4/6 at Central Presbyterian Church, 12455 SW 104 Street.
