REESE, Jacquelyn M. (nee Hurdt), 51, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 19, after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. Jackie was the 5th child of Jack and Marjorie Hurdt, and was born in Akron, Ohio. She spent most of her childhood growing up in Evansville, Indiana, where many of her friends and family still reside. Jackie moved to Miami in 1981, and met future husband, Doug, in 1985. They were married in 1990, and had one child (Kristy), who was born in 1992. Jackie was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Kendall (since 1981), but also frequented Christ Fellowship Church in Palmetto Bay after Kristy started going to school there. Jackie was a devout Christian, and participated in numerous activities at both churches (such as the Fall Festival, the Care Closet, and Vacation Bible School), while also attending Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) at Old Cutler Presbyterian. She was on a personal mission to serve the Lord, and strived to introduce everyone that she met to the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jackie was also a devoted wife and mom. As a stay-at-home mom, Jackie managed to attend every function that Kristy was ever involved with, which included cheerleading at both Palmetto Middle and Senior High Schools, as well as at FIU. Jackie also served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She is survived by her husband, daughter, mom and dad, three siblings, and numerous other extended family members. Jackie was buried on Saturday, August 23, in Evansville. There will be a local memorial service for her on Thursday, September 4, at 7 pm, at Riverside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, and at Jackie's request, monetary donations can be made to the church. She will be missed by all who knew her.
