Kaufman, JOAN L., 71, passed away on October 18, 2012. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on August 26, 1941, and graduated from the University of Miami, with a degree in Elementary Education. Joan taught for 32 years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, teaching children in Homestead, R.R. Moton, and lastly at Bel-Aire Elementary, Joan was a dedicated volunteer at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in the membership department. She participated in several activities at the L.I.F.T., taking Spanish classes, Current Events discussions, playing Mah-Jong and learning and playing Canasta. A private graveside funeral service was held on October 21, 2012 at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th Street, Miami, Florida 33172. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, November 2, 2012 at The Palace Gardens, located at 1351 N. Krome Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030.
