BENNETT, Lawrence. Officer Lawrence Joseph Bennett, Jr. of the Miami-Dade Police Department, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 17th, 2013. Born on Long Island, New York, March 24th, 1955. He joined the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman where he served in Germany for 3 years. After earning his degree from John Jay College he joined the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1982 where he served for 30 years as an officer and detective. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan, daughter Jennifer, mother Barbara DeLaCruz, sister Katherine Kincer (Larry), brother Howard (Emma), nieces Michelle, Elizabeth, Emma, nephews Robert (predeceased), Travis, Tyler and other loving family. Visitation 4-9pm Wed., Feb 20th Gregg Mason Funeral Home, Mass of Christian Burial Thurs., Feb. 21st 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, Miami Shores.
