LEOPOLDO REYNALDO FIGUEROA

FIGUEROA, LEOPOLDO REYNALDO, passed to his eternal life at the age of 76, on May 28, 2011 in Miami, Florida. Born on February 9, 1935 in Santa Clara, Cuba, Leopoldo leaves behind his children, Anna Maria Figueroa, Beatriz Figueroa Sanchez and her husband Jose Miguel Sanchez, Carlos Ignacio Figueroa, Patricia Maria Figueroa and Isabel Cristina Figueroa; and his grandchildren Julio Enrique Mendez, Jr., Lucas Joel Sanchez, Elissa Michelle Sanchez, Gabriel Thomas Brito, Daniela Cristina Brito, Vicente Antonio Sanchez and Isabella Nicole Sanchez. He also leaves behind his sisters, Sarah Figueroa, Maria de la Pezuela, Lourdes Longyear and Nilda Figueroa as well as many other family members and friends who loved him. He will be missed by his children and grandchildren to whom he was an exemplary "Abuelo". Leopoldo attended and graduated from the Marist schools Marcelino Champagnat in Santa Clara and Cienfuegos, Cuba. He later attended La Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas, graduating as an Agricultural Engineer. In 1961, Leopoldo fled Cuba and arrived in the United States where he served and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He attended the University of Florida and attained a Master's degree in Economics. Leopoldo met and married Maria de los Angeles Alvarez in 1965. They shared their lives until she passed to her eternal life on June 6, 2000. Rest in peace Abuelo, we love you. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 900 SW 26 Road, Miami, FL on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11am. Leopoldo will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Park, 4400 SW 8 Street, Miami, FL.
