HEIT, LOUIS SAMUEL, 85, died peacefully on May 25, 2015, in Hollywood, Florida. Louis was born in Toronto, Canada, on December 12, 1929, and settled in Detroit, Michigan, at a young age together with his late parents, Abraham and Sarah (nee Danziger) Heit, and his late sister, Pearl Davidson. Louis relocated with his family to Miami where he enjoyed a successful career with several of the area's prestigious employers: Aerodex, R.E.T.S., and Adelphi Academy. Louis later earned his General Contractor's license and developed thousands of homes for first-time buyers in South Miami Heights and then mobile home parks in Sebring, Florida. Not one to rest on his laurels, he continued his work as one of the leading roofing contractors throughout Florida placing quality at the forefront of all his contracts. He was faithful to the Chabad movement and enjoyed the many friendships he encountered along the journey. An avid reader, he was fond of music, theater, and made wonderful memories with his family and friends who were his passion and delight. Louis graduated from the Rabbinical Yeshiva of Telshe in Cleveland, Ohio, and continued to earn several Associate Degrees in electronics from Miami Dade College. He was an ardent supporter of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, The Aleph Institute, the State of Israel, and more. Louis is survived by his two sons, David E. Heit and Jesse E. Heit (Megumi Yamakoshi); and the joys of his life, granddaughter, Chloe Heit, nieces Anita and Rachel Moody, and nephew, Marvin Davidson. He also leaves behind faithful friend James Chacon and numerous loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to express our gratefulness for the warm and compassionate care provided by the caring staff of the Plaza at Pembroke Park throughout Dad's final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Aleph Institute, 9540 Collins AVE, Surfside, FL 33154-7127 and Rabbinical College of Telshe, 28400 Euclid AVE, Wickliffe, OH 44092-2523. Services were held on Tuesday May 26, 2015 at Mt Nebo Miami Cemetery.
