I just now have learned of Stephen's passing and am greatly saddened. I first met him when he joined WSBK-TV in Boston. As a fellow studio engineer it was my honor to have done some of his training at the station and I immediately saw that he would 'go places' because of his intelligence and drive. Later in life when I was the Transmitter Supervisor at WSVN-TV in Miami once again our paths crossed when he worked for WPLG-TV in Miami and we were once again in communication. My thoughts early on of him 'going places and doing big things' were once again realized at that time. From reading about his career...he did not disappoint me in what he achieved. Even though it was many years ago since last we met...he had come into my mind many times. He was a very special man and I pray that you...his family...will find peace and comfort.

Steve was absolutely the best boss anyone could ever want. Not only looking after the benefits of the company, but of his employees as well, and made them feel that they were more important. He mattered to all of us. he will be missed in life but will live on in memories and stories.

Steven's family lived on Spruce Street, as did my family. We were neighborhood kids who grew up together. He played ball at the park with my brother, who also died of cancer. I was saddened to read of Stephen's passing, but happy that he had such a loving family and wonderful friends, and had great personal accomplishments in his very short life.

Steve was, by only 18 months, an older brother I never had. We met in 1980 when he was at WJXT in Jacksonville - right after I joined Grass Valley Group. My wife, Susan, and I were invited to dinner at his home. (Scott and Kendra, y'all were of course just little kids then.) Our friendship continued after Steve moved to Miami and throughout our careers we kept up with one another's families. For 31 years he was a kind mentor. The void left by his passing is truly deep, but I will forever remember him as my patient and courageous buddy. My deepest condolences Lucy, Sarah, Sean, Scott, and Kendra. May your pain be eased by many, many fond memories of your husband and father. He was a great man. - Bill

I was fortunate to work with Steve early in my career as a broadcast architect. Steve had a wonderful way teaching those he worked with; he was straight forward, open minded, and he made good thoughtful decisions. He taught me as much about people as he did about the technology he loved so much. I will miss him dearly.

I worked with Steve in Jacksonville at TV station, WJXT. He was a pleasure to work for, and I believe that my career would have been much different had I never worked for Steve. He had great command of his engineering skills and was a great manager. He assigned you a task, and let you make it your own. The TV industry will miss him, as he loved his work.
My sincerest sympathy are for his wife and children.
Steve, you will be missed.
