Lori Anne Quintiliani, PhD, known affectionately by her many students over a 31 year teaching career in Miami, Florida, as Dr.Q, died Monday, August 4 in Tallahassee, Florida at the age of 56. Lori graduated with high honors from the University of Florida and earned a master's degree in fine arts and a doctorate in education from Florida International University. She eventually became chair of the Art Department at Miami's Norland Senior High School, where she spent most of her career. Lori fought serious health issues the last 9 years but continued to mentor not only her students but young teachers as well. An accomplished artist, working in multi-media, Lori displayed her work in several South Florida galleries and was the recipient of a number of awards for her artwork. Lori was a life-long Episcopalian and very active in her Miami parish, St Matthews. She is survived by her mother, Lucia Quintiliani, her older sister, Lili Quintiliani (Blan Teagle, brother-in-law), her younger sister, Lila Quintiliani (Jared Bondesson, brother-in-law), her nephew and nieces, Tyler Teagle, Anna Teagle, Lizanna Bondesson, and Lina Bondesson, her aunt and uncle (Anne and Bob Armstrong), her aunt Shirley Maffioli, and multiple cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Quintiliani, himself a role model for her as an educator. Services will be held at St. John's Epsicopal Church in Tallahassee, Florida on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 3:00PM, with a brief reception to follow in the parish hall immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the National Cancer Institute Gift Fund or Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.
