Lilia passed away on December 23, 2010, at the age of twenty eight, from complications related to leukemia.
A memorial service will be held at 9AM on Friday, December 31, 2010, at St. Patrick Church, Miami Beach, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery and reception at Tower Club, Fort Lauderdale.
Lilia was born on May 21, 1982, in Miami to Linda and Byron Busby. She attended St. Patrick elementary school and graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 2000. She studied Child Development and Psychology and earned her degree from Florida State University. Lilia loved God, her family, friends, and children, especially her nephew, Christopher, and was always driving home on weekends from college to see him.
Lilia was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to those who knew her. She cherished her life with them and never said "no" to a party or gathering. She was the first to apologize and forgive even when she wasn't at fault. She loved the beach, butterflies, getting ready to go somewhere, tea with honey, tuna sushi, birthdays, movies, cards, Andy, memories, photos, long talks, and animals.
Lilia is survived by her parents, Byron and Linda Busby; her four sisters, Leah, Lina, and Lara Busby, Lissette Novar; her brother and donor, Byron Busby, Jr.; her paternal grandmother, Frances Busby; and her nephew, Christopher Morales.
Lilia's final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Lilia had touched throughout her short but memorable life. The last words Lilia spoke were, "thank you."
In lieu of flowers, Lilia would want donations made in her memory to:
