REILLY, ROBERT McCANNA, 6/9/1916 - 8/21/2011 Robert McCanna Reilly, 95, born Chicago, IL of pioneer Reilly family arriving in 1915 settling in Miami 1919 passed away peacefully in his home on Miami Beach surrounded by family. Graduated St. Patrick Sch. 1934, University of Notre Dame 1939 Chemical Engineering with a minor in Aeronautical Engineering. Member: St Patrick Church, Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, MB Rod & Reel Club, founding member of The Bachelors Inc. During WWII worked for ALAAP (Dupont) making smokeless gun powder in Alabama. In 1943, he came back to Miami and worked for Pan American Airlines as a team engineer on proving flights charting new routes to Central & So. America. In 1953 he took over the family business Miami Awning Co started by his grandmother in 1929. He is well known in the U.S. for his innovative and unique designs in the awning industry. His six children survive him Mary Margaret Reilly, Michael Reilly (Marie), Robert Reilly Jr. (Joyce), Philip Reilly, Joan Garvey (Bill), John Reilly. His beloved grandchildren: Robert Reilly III (Ines), Elizabeth Reilly (d'd), Beverly Reilly, Joseph Reilly, Daniel Reilly, Anna Reilly. He will be dearly missed and was dearly loved.
