BRIDIS, TED 1945-2013 67, Miami High football star, lost legs and arm in Vietnam war but inspired as Paralympic athlete, scuba diver, Coast Guard engineering supervisor died Oct. 3 from cancer. All-City linebacker at Miami High, state & nat'l champions in 1962-63. After 3 battlefield amputations in 1970, awarded Bronze Star, certified rescue diver, competed for U.S. as wheelchair racer in Paralympic games in Greece 2004 and Australia 2000. Worked 33 years for Coast Guard. Survivors: wife, Sallie; children, Ted Jr. of Washington, D.C., Tracy Schiller of Ft. Lauderdale; mother, Margaret Patricia Bridis of Miami; brother Michael Bridis of Pembroke Pines; four grandchildren, Trey & Alyx Bridis, and Jake & Jared Schiller. Visitation 2 pm to 4 pm Sat at Stanfill Funeral Home. Memorial service after. To be buried Arlington National Cemetery in 2014. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to Humane Society of Greater Miami.
