PALUSZEK, ANDREW JOHN On Dec. 11, 2013, Andy was called to his next assignment in heaven. Andy was a devoted husband to Louise for 61 years and a loving father to Chris (Susan), Greg, Andy, Julie Neitzel and Mary Takahashi (Steve). His grandchildren Daniel (Jessica), Michael (Megan), Nick, Eric, Lincoln, Halina, Bianca and great grandson, Everett, will miss him. Andy was born in 1923 and raised in Chicago. He earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Chicago Technical College and was a caring son to his mother, Halina, who was widowed at a young age when his father, Ludwig, passed. He served 11 years on U.S. Navy destroyers as a senior petty officer during World War II and the Korean War, earning three bronze stars for his valor. During his career as an industrial sales professional, his firm ranked #1 every year in industrial valve sales to the steel mill industry. Post retirement, he worked 20 years selling real estate and driving commercial buses, his love of driving having started as a Chicago cabbie. Andy was a dedicated husband to Louise, serving as her driver and meticulously handling their finances. He generously provided to his children, including their education at private Catholic schools and universities. As a devout Catholic, Andy served the church his entire life. He was a lifelong Democrat until the last two presidential elections, when he joined the Republican Party. Given his love of driving, he changed his vehicle nearly every year, including buying the most recent one at 89. Andy was a tall, handsome man who was proud of the many tattoos resulting from his Navy tour: the pig, rooster and five others, including the one with another woman's name. He was an avid reader and visited the library every day with Louise until his death. A favorite activity was smoking his cigars and chatting with his neighbors. We are thankful for his 90 years with us and will always reflect on the enduring legacy of love he leaves with his family. A celebration of Andy's life will occur at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Richard's Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152nd St., Miami.
