Upon hearing of Rebecca's death on February 24, a friend of over sixty years said,"Becca profoundly affected the lives of many friends through her unique personality; a strong sense of the spiritual, combined with an active sense of humor, and the uncanny ability to elaborate stories." Becca was born in Tupelo, MS. After graduating from Belhaven College, she earned the Masters Degree in Counseling at Mississippi State University. For over forty years, Becca was a highly revered teacher of English and an admired counselor at Allapattah Elementary/Junior High, Shenandoah Junior High, and South Miami Middle School, in the Miami-Dade Public Schools system. She was a strong and capable leader in many organizations. She traveled through life leaving a wake of laughter and love behind her. In her beach house in Fernandina Beach, Florida, she hung a placard that read: May God Grant you peace and rest while under our roof, ... add to your joy while on vacation, ... give you a safe journey home. Many family members and friends will never forget the joyous times there with Becca. Rebecca is survived by her cousin, Frank Conner and family of Denton, Texas, and many, many friends. Everyone who loved Becca appreciates the devoted care she received from her caregivers. A Celebration of Live service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at East Ridge Village Chapel, 19301 SW 87 Ave, Cutler Bay, FL.
