Thomas Strong "Tam" Wilson

Thomas Wilson Obituary

Retired Circuit Judge, Thomas "Tam" Strong Wilson passed away on July 31, 2015 at the University of Miami Hospital Miami, FL. Tam was a graduate of the Blair Academy Blairstown Township, NJ,; Dickinson College and the University of Miami Law School. Tam worked as an assistant public defender, assistant state attorney, general magistrate and circuit court judge in Miami-Dade County. In June 1990 Tam was appointed to the Circuit Court for the 11th Judicial Circuit where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2009. Tam was respected, admired and his own man throughout his too-short stay on the planet. In addition to his brother, James Wilson and a niece and nephew, friends beyond counting survive him, all grieved by the loss of this one-of-a-kind warrior, yet richer for the time granted with him.

I often think of the many times we often shared in the Grove so long ago. Tam, you were a fine man and I will never forget your friendship to me. I miss you.

My acquaintance with Tam was a few too short years in his retirement. I've been honored for the opportunity of his friendship. He will be long and well remembered.

It is a great sadness that we have lost yet another great member of the Blair Class of '63. Tam was a great guy and dedicicated to our Class as a Representative. He will always be a valuable part of our class Band of Brothers. Carter & Betty Crewe

I appeared before Tam and the fact that I won my motion does not influence this in the least. As a judge, he was smart, to the point, and had an abiding sense of doing justice.

After he retired, I had the good fortune to become his friend. I came to know him as a loyal, kind, and very funny guy.

He and I shared many memories of our youth in Montgomery County, Maryland. He grew up in Garrett Park, which is a beautiful neighborhood on Rock Creek Park.

I'm better for having known him, and will miss him dearly.
