Jack Yoches Obituary

YOCHES, JACK, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon surrounded by his close family and loving wife, Roberta. Jack was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on April, 2, 1926, the son of Hyman and Jean Yoches. He had one sibling, Norma who is deceased. He studied engineering at Rutgers University in New Jersey and at the young age of 17 decided to enlist in the Army to show his support for his country and during World War II he liberated work camps and was honorably discharged after the war as a decorated sergeant. He later moved to Miami Beach where he became the youngest hotel manager at the age of 26. There, he met his first love, wife of 33 years, Lynn. Jack and Lynn then settled in St Petersburg with their two daughters, Penny and Jean, and Jack went on to become a successful real estate developer. They later moved to South Florida where he raised his family and then supported his wife through her long struggle with cancer. Jack later met the love of his life, Roberta, having been told about her by ten different friends. From that first meeting, Jack and Roberta began their 29 year love affair. They were inseparable, whether it be working together in real estate, traveling the world, or celebrating family occasions. Those who knew Jack understood that his family was his focus and in particular, his wife, Roberta. He was a true man's man, treating everyone with the utmost respect and integrity. He was a friend to all and a man who never wavered in his love of country and his beliefs. He touched and changed so many lives and will be truly missed! Jack is survived by his children, Roberta's children and their 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He will be remembered in a service this Sunday at 10am at the Levitt Weinstein Memorial Chapel 18840 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, 33180 (305) 932-2700. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Jack Yoches to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Pediatric Department, at 600 Third Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017.

My late husband, Mickey, and I were good friends of Jack and Lynn when we lived in Miami Shores in the 70s and 80s. Jack was a true gentleman and will be missed by all.

Roberta, I happened to learn this news on Sunday evening, and my heart breaks for you and the entire family. Jack was like a father to me at a time I needed it the most. He stands out as one of the most compassionate businessmen I have ever encountered in my career...a great role model, then and now. I am so very sad, but so very grateful to have known him. My sincere condolences and love to you all.
