Upon Leonard's retirement in 1967, they moved to Klamath Falls, where Beryl taught for another 11 years. She retired in 1978, having taught for 36 years. She greatly enjoyed teaching and took much pride in her work educating children. In 2005, Beryl moved to Mountain Meadows Retirement Community in Ashland in order to be closer to her daughter.
