Harvey Arthur Greenbank, 80, of Tulelake, Calif., went on his last great adventure on Dec. 7, 2013. His wife, Joyce; daughter, Brenda and son, Daniel were by his side.
Harvey was born to Arthur and Hazel Greenbank Jan. 3, 1933 in Olathe, Colo. They taught him the meaning of loyalty, honesty and respect. He learned what it meant to be a treasured son and brother to Bud, Louise and Betty Jane.
His elementary education was divided between Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota and Oregon. His high school years were spent in Tulelake, where he was a good student and performed very well in sports, especially track. He loved running the mile and placed 13th in state competition.
After graduating from high school, Harvey enlisted in the United States Army
. After two years in the military, he attended OIT (then OTI.)
In 1955, he married Joyce Larson and embarked on his family voyage. Harvey excelled at being a husband, father and grandfather.
He spent his early working years at Fish and Wildlife and Lockwood Graders. He was employed by the Tulelake Irrigation District until he retired after 32 years. He made many friends during those years and valued them as brothers. Those who passed before him were never forgotten and his experiences with them brought joy to friends and family time and time again. He bonded with his friends through a mutual love and interest in hunting, fishing, gathering firewood and other outdoor activities.
Harvey took pride in his garden, yard, home and children. He had a strong faith in God, so we know he is dancing with the saints and singing with the angel choir.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Louise; daughter, Brenda (Gary); son, Daniel (Karen); grandchildren, Trevor, Todd (Alissa) and Alex; nieces, Teri Yerton, Marla Rajnus, and MaryAnn Boyer (Terry); nephews, Ron Greenbank (Jill), Jim Purcell (Golda), Richard Terry (Val), Doug Larson, Bob Larson, and David Bowman and cousins, Van, Archie, Mickey, Penny, Susie (Phelps), Harvey and Randy Cummings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Hazel Greenbank; his brother, Bud; sister, Betty Jane; niece, Joan Nelson and nephew, Ed Bowman.
Family and friends are invited to Harvey's memorial service at noon Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, in Tulelake Presbyterian Church. Food and fellowship will follow.
